Toddler learning

I want to make the most of my time I have at home with my babies so I try to do daily activities to keep my toddler thinking and learning. I feel like he is very smart for his age and he loves doing crafts. I try to keep our activities simple and just use what we have at the house.

These are two and you’ll need, a piece of white paper, markers, and construction paper.

On a plain piece of paper draw 4-6 squares in different colors, and In those same colors of construction paper cut out small squares.

Another activity to really get him thinking with the same supplies. We started out by drawing 4 different shapes and then I used 4 different colors of construction paper and cut out each shape in a different color.
With this one you can have your toddler match by shapes or colors. He enjoyed doing both activities and there was minimal prep for me. When we were done I put our paper clipping in a snack size bag to save for the next time we do this activity.

Toddler craft: Caterpillars

My toddler and I did this fun little craft together!

Since his cousins were going back to school, we decided to do something fun for them. We made some little love bugs. I was in charge of  cutting the pipe cleaners and hot glue gun but my toddler picked out the colors and pattern.

You’ll need:

Puff balls, Small googly eyes, Pipe cleaners, Popsicle sticks, and a hot glue gun.

Choose which pattern you want with your puff balls and glue them onto a popsicle stick add antennas and googly eyes. We also put a magnet on the back of the popsicle stick so we could stick them to the fridge or they could be put in lockers at school.

Easy Toddler Breakfast

This right here is the fastest breakfast I can make when I have two little ones going crazy. Just three ingredients no added sugar and prep and cook time’s under two minutes.

Ingredients:

1/4 cup oats

1/2 cup water

A dash of cinnamon (optional)

1/4 cup Apple sauce

Put 1/4 cup oats and 1/2 cup water in jar, sprinkle a little bit of cinnamon for taste. Heat in the microwave for 1 to 1 1/2 minutes. Once done I add 1/4 cup of no sugar added applesauce stir and serve once cool enough.

This is a perfect quick breakfast where I know all the ingredients and that’s not loaded with sugar or preservatives like pre-packaged oat meal. I promise once you make this you will not buy package oatmeal loaded with sugar again. You can make this morning of in a rush, the cold applesauce not only gives it flavor but helps cool down the oats after cooking because we all know toddlers have no patience to let food cool. Or you can make the night before put all ingredients into a jar and serve cold as overnight oats or pop them in the microwave for 45 seconds to heat up.

Our household doesn’t heat anything up in plastic so I absolutely love these glass baby food jars. They are great to cook and serve food out of or even for food storage. There are so many things you can do with them, microwave and dishwasher safe and you can freeze food in them. Link to Amazon below.

My Omi’s German Pancakes

German Pancakes my Omi use to make. This was my favorite things as a kid and still is one of my favorites. Anytime I would spend the night at my grandmas this is what I would request for breakfast. I’m so glad I get to carry on this tradition and I now make them for my kids.

Ingredients:

1 cup of flour

1 cup of milk

1 egg

Mix all ingredients in a bowl, make sure to get all the clumps out. Have your pan hot, cast iron with melted butter is the best! Pour 1/4 cup of batter into your frying pan and move your pan around to spread out the batter to make them thin. After about three minutes on medium heat flip them, they are best when you get them golden brown on each side.

My favorite way to eat them is to put a little bit of sugar on them and then roll them up.

You can easily make some cinnamon sugar and have a little cinnamon roll treat.

My husband’s favorite way to eat them is to spread peanut butter and maple syrup on it. And my son loves when I make it into a peanut butter and jelly roll up. Another refreshing way to eat them is whip cream and fresh fruit like strawberries, blueberries, or blackberries. I love that you can do so many things with it and the whole family can decide which way they like them best.
